TRIAL PRODUCTS TO DETER WILD ANIMALS
Penergetic International have developed a range of products to deter certain wild animals. These Swiss-made products utilise low-frequency biostimulation technology. When applied they act as a “virtual fence or barrier” – invoking a fear response and discouraging the target species from entering where the product has been applied.
This can effectively help to prevent major damage to farmland, forests or other exposed areas such as wetlands and ravines.
These products represent a promising new approach to wildlife management and an attractive environmentally-friendly alternative means of reducing the economic disruption they cause.
Products currently available are:
- b WV - wild pig (boar) & deer
- b ZV - small mammal (rabbits, rats, mice, ground squirrels & gophers/pocket gophers)
- b KV - kangaroo & wallaby
Products for other target species are currently being developed.
B WV - TRIAL PRODUCT TO DETER WILD PIG (BOAR) & DEER

Why are wild pig (boar) & deer an issue?
- Consume new crop/pasture growth before livestock have a chance to graze
- Damage forestry tree plants, also damaging fences as they go
- Out-of-control population - breed rapidly, increasing numbers quickly
- Large scale culling is labour intensive, very costly & largely ineffective
Benefits:
- Protects from damage by wild pigs and deer
- Full area or perimeter application
- Overcomes need and cost of fencing (including electrified)
- Alternative protection method for stored grain and/or forage
- Helps limit (potential) spread of wildlife-borne disease
- Shown to be effective even after precipitation
- 6-9 month efficacy
- Organic, odorless and non-toxic to humans and animals

Application:
Penergetic b WV is spray applied after sowing, either entire area or perimeter application. It can be mixed with other spray agents and liquid fertiliser.
For instance, it can be combined with penergetic-b (soil) for more nutrients in the soil and energetic-p (plant) for better plant growth.
Dosage:
A site pre-assessment is required to determine dosage requirements. As a guide, heavy animal pressure would require up to 2kg/ha broadacre + additional perimeter application.
See Application & Dosage Form in Resources section.
Important notes:
- Hunting pressure should be applied regularly pre & post-application to amplify the animal's fear response & assist efficacy.
- A detailed site assessment either in person or via Zoom consult is required to ensure correct dosage & application confirmed.
- Reapplication: product has efficacy for 6- 9 months, even with rain, but reapply after flooding. A second application may be advised prior to 6 months for extreme game pressure.
- Grain/silage storage areas can also be protected, contact us to discuss further.
Application guidelines:
The following local conditions add to the wild animal pressure, increasing the challenge of deterrence:
- Very heavy game presence, especially deer
- Attractive food offering to the animals
- During cooler months when their natural food source is scarce
- Absence of active hunting and culling in the area
- Seeking low-damage protection of high value crops, seedlings, pastures
Mitigations:
- Use higher dosages, more frequent applications, entire-block + perimeter applications
- Apply hunting pressure to reinforce the animal’s fear response
- Leave options, especially for deer, such as perimeter pathways to other habitual woodland areas, and in extreme cases leaving a sacrificial food source

b WV TRIALS & CASE STUDIES:
Further successful applications have been completed in other areas of New Zealand and Australia, the documentation will be available soon.

B ZV - TRIAL PRODUCT TO DETER SMALL MAMMALS
TARGET SPECIES

WHY ARE THESE SMALL MAMMALS AN ISSUE?
- Extensive damage to farm fields, crops and equipment.
- Burrowing - mounds & holes create hazards for livestock (equestrian), obstacles for farm equipment & can prevent crops from growing on disturbed land.
- Invasion of stored grain/crops
- Damage to agricultural lines and infrastructure
Benefits:
- Protects fields and orchards from damage by small mammals
- Control of rabbits, rats, mice, ground squirrels & gophers/pocket gophers
- Eliminates fencing requirement
- Safeguards irrigation equipment from damage
- Promotes small mammal population control
- Helps limit the (potential) spread of wildlife-borne disease
- Odorless & non-toxic to humans, animals & the environment
- Shown to be effective even after precipitation
APPLICATION & DOSAGE:
Spray apply over entire area to be treated.
- Initial application: 1 kg/ha
- Second application (approx. 14 days later): 600g/ha
Note: Since these small mammals often live underground and develop elaborate networks of tunnels, with multiple entrances, it is important to carry out a fairly land-expansive spraying program to ensure adequate coverage of the area they occupy.

B KV - TRIAL PRODUCT TO DETER KANGAROO & WALLABY
WHY ARE THESE ANIMALS AN ISSUE?
- Consume new crop/pasture growth before livestock have a chance to graze
- Damage forestry tree plants, also damaging fences as they go
- Out-of-control population - breed rapidly, increasing numbers quickly
- Large-scale culling is labour intensive, very costly & largely ineffective

Benefits:
- Helps protect & prevent damage to crops, vegetation, & forestry plantations
- Non toxic/odorless for humans, animals & the environment
- Promotes a pest free environment in treated areas
- Negates fencing requirement – No capital cost
- Effective after precipitation
- Helps limit (potential) spread of wildlife-borne disease
- Programmed approach to minimize damage & control populations
- Cost saving alternative to other expensive, inefficient products & methods
Application & dosage:
- Wettable powder, spray application – onto soil, no-till residue or crop.
- Can be mixed with (and applied at the same time as) other spray agents (or liquid fertilizer.
- Dosage is variable depending on animal pressure and other environmental factors.
- A site pre-assessment is required prior to final dosage/application recommendation.
